A PROJECT TO COMMUNICATE THE IMPACT OF YOUTH VOLUNTEERING IN THE NHS

NHS - #IWILL

We were approached by the NHS to tell the story of their incredible youth volunteers - what motivated them to volunteer in the health service, what they get out of it and the importance of their work to the day-to-day operations of the cherished organisation.

A workshop was arranged with the volunteers to hear their stories and get a feel for the work they do. This was used as the basis for the script and storyboards, which we developed in collaboration with the volunteer coordinators. We were about to record the voice-overs with some of the volunteers until COVID hit, putting the kibosh on our studio recording plans.

Determined to make it work, we asked the 4 volunteers (Anees, Charlie, Sabiha and Eleanora) to hide in cupboards under duvets and record the lines onto their phones. Our go-to sound wizard Nicholas Rowe literally worked magic and mixed it all together into a great sounding package complete with sound design. We’re thrilled with how the animation came out and are proud to tell the stories of these brilliant young people.

Silver Machine approached every step of the process with flexibility, patience and heart. We’re absolutely delighted with the final product – it feels totally authentic to us and our volunteers’ experiences. Thank you.”
